Mountain Needlecrafts Quilts & Repair

Carole is an award winning quilter and pattern designer who does quilt repairs, and charity quilts for Quilts of Valor, Linus Project, Elizabeth House and other local causes.  She offers edge to edge pantograph longarm quilting. Carole has tutorials on her blog for borders, binding, and many other quilting projects.  See her blog at From My Carolina Home. Carole also does speaker events for guilds, see her blog Speaker page for more information.

This quilt was longarm quilted for the Boys and Girls club’s auction, quilting around each hand painted motif that the kids did created an outline quilt backing.

Carole does quilt restoration work on well loved quilts with sentimental value.  If you have a quilt that needs repair, Carole might be able to help.

Before and after of a severely damaged quit shows how some care and addition of applique can bring a quilt back to a usable state.

See more of Carole’s repairs on her blog From My Carolina Home – Well Loved Quilt Repairs. Even severely damaged quilts can be saved!  From re-attaching appliques, to reconstruction of tears and holes, almost every quilt can be salvaged in some way. Reasonable rates and happy customers are the hallmark of Carole’s quilt repairs.

PLEASE NOTE – Due to a backlog of work, I am not taking any new repair clients until 2022.

Please understand that what I do is repair damage usually by patching areas that are torn. I can reconstruct edges, reattach appliques and rebind quilts by machine. I can do some patchwork, seam repair and minor applique repair by hand, but I do not hand quilt, and cannot add hand quilting to patches. I no longer take severely damaged quilts that require all handwork. The customer is responsible for supplying all fabrics needed for the repairs.

  1. Beautiful work. I’m trying to repair my friend’s great grandmother ‘a quilt but people cut out entire blocks top, batting and backing. I have been able to recreate a block to fit in the spots but now I don’t know how to join them together since front and back have raw edges. Wondering if you have any thoughts. Thank you

  2. I was so pleased with the repairs done to my quilt! It looks as good as new. Everything was matched so well with the original pattern that even I had a hard time picking out where the repairs have been done. Excellent work!!!

  3. It’s here! It’s stunning! You did such a fabulous job. Thank you so so so much! Oh my goodness. It’s impossible to tell which are original or replacements and I bought the fabric! You are an artist. I have already sent your contact info to six women with vintage quilts needing help. I cried when I opened the box, Carole, words fall short. Thank you.
