Longarm Quilter Ribbon Awards – Carolina Mountain Longarm Association has collaborated with the Asheville Quit Guild to support and highlight the artistry of the quilter, an essential partner in the creative process. As you know, the one person or group who makes and owns a quilt may or may not be the same person who quilts it. CMLA is pleased to support the work of exceptional longarm quilters by awarding three ribbons at the Asheville Quilt Show. Teal Rosette ribbons were awarded to the longarm quilters for excellence in longarm quilting in the categories of computerized, hand guided and combination (combined computerized and hand guided) techniques. Many thanks to the members of the Asheville Quilt Guild who have paved the way for this process by modifying the entrance forms to identify longarm quilting for other categories and for participating in making ribbons available.

Doreen Huntsinger’s quilt, Earth & Water (quilted by Doreen Huntsinger) was awarded Excellence in Longarm Quilting, Computerized.

Judith Craddock’s quilt, Dutch Whimsy (quilted by Louise Klare), was awarded Excellence in Longarm Quilting, Hand Guided.

Bernadette Houghton’s quilt, Forest Acres (quilted by Ann Olson), was awarded Excellence in Longarm Quilting, Combination (both computerized and hand guided).

Linda Hanslip was awarded excellence in longarm quilting, computerized.

Karn Byers’s quilt, quilted by Jan DeVito, was awarded excellence in longarm quilting, hand guided.

Lois Kindley was awarded excellence in longarm quilting, combination (computerized and hand guided).

2024 Winners:

Brenda Baldwin’s quilt, quilted by Mary Jo Leonard, was awarded for excellence in computerized longarm quilting.

Janet Ervin’s quilt, quilted by Penny Miller, was awarded for excellence in hand guided longarm quilting.

Kristen Dorsey’s quilt was awarded for excellence in combination (computerized and hand guided) longarm quilting.
